Rebuilder finds new use for GM conical
Top converter rebuilder, Fred Bardowski of Midwest Converters, offers insight for emergency use of the GM 298mm conical
According to Bardowski, when in need of an odd sized pilot for a TCRS welder, the GM 298mm conical can be used to replace the steel pilot. The O.D. of the conical is the same as that of the TCRS pilot. All that is needed is to bore the I.D. of the conical to the size pilot that is needed for a one time throwaway solution. Although the gadget can be reused, Bardowski suggests discarding after use to prevent inaccuracies.
