TCRA wishes to express their condolences on the passing of David Perry

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Perry.  Dave began working for Raybestos in 1980, riding his bicycle to work, and he transitioned through the ranks until he resigned to pursue other ventures in April of 2009.  He pioneered coated torque converter friction rings for the aftermarket, establishing Raybestos as the leading supplier in the converter reman industry.  As Business Development Manager, Dave found business in other markets such as the motorcycle, golf cart, and ATV industry.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman and motorcycle enthusiast.  He liked things tidy, enjoyed going to races, would always provide the facts, and was never one to "sugar coat" a conversation.  Customers came to appreciate his straightforward approach and knew they could come to him with a question or concern, knowing it would receive prompt attention.

R.I.P. David Perry (May 11, 1957-June 29, 2010)

Chrysler - Multiple

question:

I am needing info on a converter from a 2004 Pontiac GTO 5.7L engine, converter code TWBX. I have two converter cores from this vehicle & both have been rebuilt before. The converters have different stall impellers, (one low stall & one medium stall) & two different stators, (#24206449 & 24226268. This is the first one of these I have seen, so I need to know what impeller & stator combination is original for this code. I am thinking the medium stall pump & the 24226268, 14 fin stator is the correct combination.

answer:

The WB code is a low stall impeller with a 14 blade stator

On May 21st and 22nd nearly 100 attendees converged on the Dayton, Ohio area for what appears to be another successful seminar and tour. On Friday, May 21st, the hosts of the event, CVC, graciously opened their doors to TCRA members and provided an outstanding tour. Attendees had the opportunity to experience the CVC way of doing things. After the tour, attendees were provided a sit down luncheon, courtesy of CVC, that included everything from burgers to barbecue. The “can do” attitude that Julie, Tim, Marcia and all the folks at CVC have was very clear in the way they managed the tour and their impressive facility. Following a short bus ride back to the hotel, members met for an annual meeting to discuss the status of TCRA. Part of this meeting also included elections of four positions on the Board.

On Saturday the day started early with a full lineup of speakers. The lineup included topics on safety, management and, of course, the latest technical information. Throughout the day there were good conversations about the topics being discussed. Due to the generosity of our event sponsors, Transmission Specialties, Precision Industries, Tri Component and Sonnax, we were able to enjoy some social time during breaks and the reception they helped provide. Vendors shared their newest wares and the afternoon brought a couple of surprises. TCRA was awarded an “Industry Appreciation Award” for their work towards education and betterment of the Transmission Industry by Roger Bland of ATRA. If that wasn’t enough, we were also treated to the wisdom of John Maynard and Kenny Hester. They dropped by to share their success stories and encourage all to “Think Big.” The only thing left unanswered was where we will be next year. Will it be your town?
